Rome total war wowed me at first then really annoyed me. Im so disappointed with that game.
Activisions "one patch only" mentality seriously pisses me off!!! lol dont get me started.
Well there is the expansion coming out soon, and i so want to love the game, if the expansion patches the original (which should have been done free) i may buy it.
Though i will be really annoyed with myself for pumping more money into a company which is ripping us off and churning out unfinished games!!! GAhhhhhhh
lol wow feel better after that rant...

Played a bit of the old sh2 and DC. Sudden Strike 2 online 2 or 3 times a week ( I still suck at it ) Recently also got the IL2 first and seconf games for a change but am having difficulty flying in full realism. Waiting for M8 to get together for practise.Need aces expansion set and pacific fighters to complete collection . SH3 taking up far too much time again

Am bumping this thread to let anyone who is interested (if anyone, doesn't matter anyway) know that Rome Total Realism v6.0 has now been released.
Make no mistakes, this promises to be one of the most extensive and high-quality game-modifications to be ever made, seriously.
Downloading it may be a bit of a pain, at the moment.

indeed, there was tons of stuff on the website before release, I guess they're just totally devoted to releasing the thing now. You could check out the forum. Otherwise I suppose there will be a readme of some kind with the installation. If you hadn't seen the site before, trust me, the mod looks truely awesome. I'm also getting a pretty slow download, and I'm using bit torrent, it's mainly the fault of my shoddy internet connection, though. So i'm leaving my computer on overnight to download it. I'll report back tomorrow after playing for a while to tell you how it is

yea, well I went in for a quick game of Rome Total Realism this morning, and came out about two hours later It really is fantastic, so I'd recommend checking it out. Downloading via bit torrent would probably be the fastest. By the way, the old site is here: rometotalrealism.com/oldindex.phpTime to conquer the world, methinks.

i got it downloaded it and tried it.it seems very impressive but the battles seem a bit jerky.there isnt a read me file either! do the cavalry seem to be alot slower than before to you?they seem to be barely able to outrun heavy infantry!

they'll be bringing out a patch within the next week or two to fix the major issues.
I've not found that battles jerky at all, but yes, cavalry does seem a bit too slow at the moment.
I'm not using cavalry too much, though, because they've been weakened against infantry. That is, if your cavalry are stationary and up against infantry, you'll lose your horse-men at more rapid rate. This is to represent the infantry pulling the soldiers off their horses... works quite well, its just something to get used to, having your cavalry charge and withdraw, charge and withdraw, etc.
I love the new campaign map, and faction selection, though. And the mercenary recruitment system has been overhauled, you can get an incredible variety of mercenary units, depending where you are.

testudo seems to be gone, plus onagers.at least in the single battles.

that's right.
I can't remember the exact reason for testudos, but for both that and onagers, it's historical accuracy. Apparently onagers were simply not used that early on (what, 280BC), it's probably the same with testudos.
Maybe testudos will come along with the Marius reforms, along with same-colour uniforms.
