This is really the first time i noticed this as i have been wowed by the gameplay and graphics previously.
I noticed that you really dont get hardly any sound effects inside the boat.
When you sink a ship you cant hear its bulkheads cracking unless you are within 500 metres, though i do hear it explode somtimes.
Also i dont hear the depth charges drop in the water, though i do hear them explode.
Finally you cant hear the screws (propellors) of ships untill they are virtually on top of you, in real life they could hear a convoy from inside the boat a few km away.
You can hear them via the hydrophones but you should be able to hear with the naked ear. Anyone else noticed this or is it just my setup which is bad?
When you think about it they are integral parts of U-boat simulation and help to bring the game to life.
Im also starting to join the camp which says the bulkheads breaking sound is a bit weedy lol.

I agree.I've thought for a while that the interior of the boat lacks atmosphere because it's so unnaturally quiet. When the boat is cruising and in no danger we could use some normal 'people' background noise like talking and laughing.

I tend to agree that the "in boat" sounds could be better. Some sound effects seem a little random. To comment on the cracking bulkheads, yes you have to be pretty close, or using hydrophones. Even with hydrophones though, sometimes you don't get the sound, and it's pretty weedy when you do. Depth charges, yes I've heard them be dropped into the water, but only occasionally, and only with the hydrophones. The only time I can hear propellers, other than with the hydrophones is with a screen full of propeller in external view, . All in all, I don't think it's your setup Dom. Incidentally, has anyone noticed that when you issue commands from the navigator's map screen, the acknowlegements are a LOT quieter? I don't see the reason for this other than it being a possible sound bug, as the navigator is in the command room with the others. It's a small concern but it just seems odd to me.

I feel the same. Is weird though, because from what I saw with that online survey most rate the overall sound way up there. I think mine was the lowest sound rating, I think I gave it a 6 or 7 (feeling generous at the time). That delayed 'Yeah!' is annoying as hell. The gramaphone is useless without you bringing in your own files. And of course the issues you guys just mentioned. I mean,. the sound is good, hence my 6 or 7/10 rating. But it is not outstanding as a 8/10 or higher.
