1. When installing the game without the patch, game runs fine, except the UZO is completely white. 1.1 Solves this with pressing Ctrl+P, but when patching to 1.1 my PC crashes constantly with a BSOD (kernel stack error). Anyone has a solution for this ? I am currently v1.0, using my periscope to target, even when surfased Anyone suggestion? 2. I finished the naval academy (all excellent), but when doing torpedo school I fired all torpedoes with the coordinates given to me, without manual TDC. How can I use manual TDC here to practice, cause when i point my periscope at a target "the correct solution" is immediately given to me? 3. I am about to start a Career, having a current renown of 1500. Do I have to hire new crewmembers or not? If yes, which ones? Greetz from Belgium everyone, and dominico --> Great Tutorials !!!

1)I use my scope too for surface targeting, because the UZO really makes my game run choppy when looking straight at the front of the boat (it's because of the water that jumps in front of the lens and you see only white foam). Didn't patch it to 1.1 yet and i don't think i'll do it. PS: My sistem is P4 1.4 Ghz, 384 MbRam, GeForce FX5200 128 Mb. 2)Go to the TDC and press the button for manual input 3) You really need a full crew to run the sub efficiently, that means as many officers, petty-officers and sailors as you can have. Try to get officers specialized for every post (helmsmen, torpedomen, watchmen and machinists). Than if you start the carrer in 1939 save up 2500 renown to get a VIIB type sub as soon as they are available (VIIC costs more and there only is a small difference at diving times).

1. I'll think i'll wait till 1.2 .... 1.1 s***s (have same vid card, Athlon XP 1500+ 1.3Ghz, 512 MB RAM)
2. I thought this manual button had only effect on the things you can change on the TDC map (F6), and not on the whole manual targetting proces involving speed and distance calculations you do while looking through the periscope etc. Thnx for the help.

2) You're right on that one, the periscope stiil aquires target info automaticaly, but you can now mess arround with the TDC bearings and get a taste of them. From what i saw data degrades rapidly and manual TDC basically goes on 40% true data and 60% instinct, just thinkin' where the torps are gonna strike. Hit a battleship 3 times at 20 knots from 1900 meters like that, but missed a merchant at 5 knots twice at 1000 meters. It's preety weird.

If you want to practice tdc manual in the training missions go to a single mission, select one. Then select realism at the bottom, select all your realism and then accept. It will ask you if you are sure, say yes. Then this realism is set for everything, training, missions and campaign. You can change it again in missions or in the campaign whenever you want. Took me ages to suss that out lol!
