New patch, New Career,Patrol one out St Nazaire V11B U-46 Von Lane and crew AM41 Patrol area Oct7,1940 Patrol Area 24 hrs weather overcast with sea state medum No giant waves. Found enemy Coastal Merchan crew said he spotted us "Sir" Flank speed on surface ship is changing couse as the chase is on. fired 5 torps for 5 miss then I got him with my last Fish the stern tube. I am firing on auto. watch torps on event camera passed real close but "No cigar" Al won't let me man deck gun " Storm" If i could I would have not used 6 torps for one enemy ship. So how's your patrol going? Lane ;D

It seems the unavailable positions (deck guns in rough seas etc) are greyed out in the side menu. Has it always been like that or is that a patch 1.2 fix? Oh, and Lane, I think you will find that if you ask your Nav Officer for a weather report, anything over 5 metres a second winds equals no deck gun.

Venge, So what you are saying is any time the wind is 5 meters or more you can't man the deck guns? Wish somebody could figure out how to change the wind speed in the files then we could use our deck guns I though I read someplace that was going to be fixed in patch? Sure is crazy you can move crew on deck to move external torp below decks in storm? just got back from first patrol out St Nazaire bagged two Merch a meduim size and a small one. Will check that about side menue gray out? Lane

Upon further testing, it may be 6 metres a second winds. Not sure, haven't fine tune tested it yet. One thing I have noticed is the hydrophone no longer works on teh surface. It used to, but now you have to be at least periscope depth it seems. Makes sense, just wasn't like that before the latest patch.

Deck Guns Fact & Fiction ... Save my torpedos, shoot em up - FICTION (great for arcade game NOT for uboat) deck gun required 3 men to fire, had to be uncorked, loaded and due to rolling of a surfaced uboat had an effective range of less than 300m, had to be unloaded, pluged and secured before ship could dive, could not be used in areas where aircraft may appear .. produced tremendous underwater drag reducing speed, by Apr 1943 all deck guns were no longer produced and were removed from all VII boats Flak Guns - Blow them planes out of the sky - FICTION aircraft diving at a Uboat shoots in a straight line and drops bombs and depth charges... Flak gun mounted on a post on a surfaced Uboat, goes up and down and sideways (this ain't a battleship boys, it's not a steady firing platform) .. aircraft approaches - uboat dives (John Wayne may stand and shoot it out but a Uboat that did was generally reported LOST) and last for you South Seas sailors (I'm guessing you Brits already know ) Weather - (can't we mod it to turn it off ) North Atlantic Oct - May Winds up to 60mph, Seas to 60 feet, Temperature 0 + or - , storms lasting weeks NOT just days, heavy rain, heavy fog AND Winter of 1940-1941 was one of the worst so bad that Uboat operations were curtailed..
