Well after only 2 patrols, My type VII B U-47 was sent to the bottom. It was my own fault. I let greed get the best of me in the English channel. I detected a convoy in the channel. trailed them until dark. Moved in sank a armed trawler, & crippled 2 tankers and 2 C2 cargo. The other destroyer looked for me but I managed to slip away. I surfaced reloaded and went to finish off the crippled ships. all 4 trailed the main pack but all were able to steam at 2-3 knots. I moved in finished off 1 tanker and 1 C2. The other 2 were duds and did nothing. The destroyer this time had help and came after me again. Not being able to dive deeper that 40 Meters doomed me. The 2 destroyers barracked me in and took turns crapping all over me . A few close hits caused flooding to start. The crew worked valiantly to try to stem the flooding but it just got ahead of them. after 2 hour of pounding , massive flooding doomed the boat. Well time to start career #3

Hello MarshaLaw we all learn from our errors I myself lot more cautious I way up the situation before deciding on a course of action I'm on my third career in the Med my grid patrols take me close to Malta swarming with destroyers on my last patrol I made notes on there search Patton before moving in I found a weak spot and just got a way one kill only a destroyer. Like you I went in to the English Channel on my second career only for a short cut which resulted in a banged up boat hull down to 49% unfit for a patrol some that damage was my fault hitting the bottom. Well as you go along you will get better well done like me I am learning my first aim is to get past September 1943 my best career to date that is my first my second ended in March 1943 anyway time for some shore leave to work on my sun tan here in the Med nice warm waters. Good luck on all your careers and of course good hunting. Richard
