Well after 25 missions my beloved IXc U45 was sent to the bottom with 56 brave souls. Was within 100KM of being on station In sector DC when we were spotted by a aircraft. Crash dived but the aircraft dropped a bomb right dead midship. The uboat erupted into a fireball and broke in two. After that I got the career is abandoned screen. Rest in peace..10/08/1942 BTW early warning radar worked, just as my stealth meter turned red I got the warning from the radioman.

Hello MarshalLaw interesting result I only lasted 23 missions but I was sent to the bottom on August 21st 1943 attacking a large convoy like you my first U-Boat was IX/C U-105 patrols were long but with greater number of torpedoes made it worth while. I am now on my second career I went back to September 1939 U-48 Type VII/B still alive 28 patrols completed I am now in July 1942 anyway out of the two I liked my old IX/C only on the grounds I could sink more ships. Well done on your first career as for your next are you sticking with the IX Class or like me trying out the VII Class what ever you decide happy hunting. Richard. PS you can read my posts (Best Results to Date) and (8th Patrol and More) every so often I post my comments on my progress.

Hey Richard, Aff I went back to the beginning 1939 and upped the realism. I started at Kiel last time and did so again so I could drive the VIIB. Not done with the 1st patrol yet but already had a close call. Decided to check out scapa Flow To see if the Royal Oak was docked. No luck but there were 3 Tribal Destroyers anchored in the harbor. I decided not to tangle with them but I was detected as I was turning around to go out of the harbor. I had 6 ships looking for me. Plus with the depth at 30meters or so there was no hiding deep. When one would get close I would cut the engines until they passed and then start up again in their wake to mask my sound. Played cat and mouse for 2 hours until I was able to clear the harbor and entrance channel. The heart was pounding
