Thanks Rommel good luck with your career. ;D Hello all got a nice sun tan here in the Med no convoys spotted yet best patrol to date number four bad sea weather got in close to the port of Alexandria all hell broke out above so I had a look the Luftwaffe were attacking three destroyers so I moved in fired with Type IV Torpedoes sunk one destroyer for sure but the second one I think I just finished off must have been hit by the Luftwaffe decided to move off deployed my decoys worked well another two destroyers came in on the scene from long way out they depth charged the decoys they then found me but the Luftwaffe was back keeping those destroyers busy the two I sank were Vaw class. Hi all six patrols completed got a nice sun tan here in the Mediterranean so far four of my patrols have taken me close to Malta swarming with British Destroyers which I have had some close calls with but no contact with convoys yet. Average kill rate about three ships anyway here's another postcard from my 6th patrol just escaped as you can see this Destroyer was looking for me while the other five depth charged an area near Malta anyway this one destroyer was 30 minutes later sent to the bottom thanks to a type IV Torpedo. As you can see passed by very close I would had been in deep trouble if it was pinging. Good Hunting All Richard

Hi all great news I have made it to the end of the war yes I done it and here's the info average kills for 1942 and 1943 two or three ships per patrol but in the first half of 1944 that went up and was able to take on convoys which were less guarded due to the allies build up for D-Day my career ended in the Med in September 1944 and was moved to the Atlantic first base Breast then to Bergen and finally Flensburg it was here in January 1945 I spent my points on a new U-Boat U-3503 Type XXI Class and gave the allies a run for there money in March 1945 my AA Gun Crew shot down 17 short sunderland search planes and on my last last patrol April 1945 in another shoot out with the sunderland planes two of them collided and I crashed dived one of them splashed down on my u-boat I had to blow my Ballast tanks to dislodge the plane hull damage 49% and the front section was in the red it was time to head home to base and of course surrendered to the allies. Another Short Sunderland Search Plane Shot Down :oDislodged unwelcome guest before retuning home Well its been fun posting my first three careers hope you all enjoyed and that is now the end Well that was fun for my fourth career I'm going all the way 100% realism back to Sept39 I be happy just to survive the first six months Good Hunting All Richard

Hello Roger,
All I can say is for mid 1943 start going after easy targets only attack small convoys best in rotten weather makes it a bit harder for the destroyers and don't turn on your radar warning the allies found a way of tracking your position and send planes to attack you or so if your in the bay of Biscay follow the coast out to sea turn south and enter out by the tip of Spain your find this map at UBOAT.NET and just be careful by 1944 destroyers will be in the area patrolling one thing Worth buying the type 4 conning tower this is all AA guns you will loose your deck gun which doesn't matter by this stage of the war be cautious watch and way up the situation keep with it don't give up I am now trying the real thing 100% realism and a hell of lot more things to do bit of a handful anyway remember its a game a great one at that and just keep at it you should get there in the end hope this helps

Hey Richard,
Thanks for the tip I'll keep that route in mind once Air cover in the Bay of Biscay starts to increase. Question you mentioned a type 4 conning tower, is it for a IX class or VII class. Also when you engage your planes did you get behind a gun or had the crew do it while you tended to other things. Please advise.

Hi MarshalLaw, The AA guns I bought were 2cm double clip for all guns for the type 4 conning tower when I bought this I had a type VII u-boat later on I bought one heavy duty gun I think it was a 3.5cm gun as for taking the planes on that depended on the number of planes I think I took on two at a time more than that my crew did the shooting as I changed the direction of my boat hope that helps. PS now I'm on 100% realism my fourth career came to an end on my second patrol ole well on to my next first aim survive three patrols. Richard

Silent Hunter on easy can be done but please don't ask me about 100% realism thats a different matter its hard but it does give you much more to do good luck all get out there and sink the enemy
Richard
PS Career five ended lucky shot by a destroyer well on to the next.

Hi roger, Thanks for your comments OK to the point the furthest I got to date is March 1940 kill rate very low from September 1939 to March 1940 total kills five only and no contact with any convoys and ships I damage nine but as we all know sinking the enemy is the only thing that counts unable to do screen shots got far to much to do on the down side there is a lot of boring patrols but on the up side it is a lot more realistic to the real war but if you just want to sinks ships all the time play on easy.
