Hello everyone had a close call heading out on my 17th patrol had a run in with a coastal merchant in bad weather first two torpedoes missed so I decided to get in front and take it on with my stern torpedoes as you can see a close call any way got in front after receiving some light damage fired two stern torpedoes and this time they hit The Close call on arrival in my patrol grid CA65 I rec'd a visit from a coastal air patrol I see they have stepped up their patrols and its coming a pain on the surface in day light so I had to attack at night sent two C2 cargo ships to the bottom completed my patrol and set for home My welcome to U.S waters

Hi all made it to 1942 another year of action to look forward to anyway some news from 1941 the best patrol was after I completed my grid patrol in AE47 so I decided to pay a visit to Reykjavik just to see how close I can get. got right in then contact oops shallow water but good news merchant ships only four of them outbound and all four were sent to the bottom C2&C3 Cargo ships and one Coastal and one Small Merchant after that I decided to sail for home not before I had a run in with a Destroyer which was off guard I fired two torpedoes the first missed but the second torpedo sent it to the bottom and heres a picture one less Destroyer to bother me Good Hunting all Richard

Hello everyone had to tell you all this as you know I got close in to Reykjavik on one of my patrols. And now I got right in to Reykjavik harbor had a good look around the place and sunk three ships one each of coastal and small merchants the other small tanker and not a single warship in the area. Heres a post card my U-Boat is on the surface in the middle and the plume of smoke is whats left of the small tanker. I'm getting a taste for these sneaky attacks. Good Hunting all Richard

Hello everyone made it to 1943 and things are hotting up now anyway some more news from 1942 one patrol came across a inbound convoy as I was moving into position I was spotted after a two hours cat and mouse I came out of it well sunk three of the four Destroyers two of them Evart Destroyers and the third was a Somers Destroyer I was down to my last two torpedoes so I decided to leave the scene and head for home. On my second from last patrol of 1942 I was moving north wards at night calm sea in grid AM west of Ireland when my radar picked up a small group of warships as I closed the gap behind them they were sailing in a strait row I got in some where in the region of 4200-4260 and decided to take a chance at a long range attack selected target fired two torpedoes and dived to periscope depth and yes the second torpedo hit the target Black Swan Frigate as it went down star shell went up destroyers trying to find me but as I was so far behind they gave up and turned north and thats it for 1942 I see if I can get past September 1943 where my first career ended. Good Hunting All Richard

35 Patrols Completed.
Well its all over U-48 VII/B was sent to the bottom while attacking a small group of warships two direct hits by depth charges I ran out of decoys which worked for a while but in the end the Royal Navy got me.
Well now I used type XI/B and VII/B I liked IX Class more only on the grounds I had more torpedoes but the down side was very long patrols.
And now I am starting my third career I am going to take a break from the cold Alantic and going to warmer waters that of the Mediterranean I will not be posting as many posts from now on but I will keep you all informed from time to time.
Well its time to set course for my new hunting ground for my Third Career
Good Hunting All Richard
