Just had the coolest mission ever. Was off the coast of Norway supposedly covering the fights for the Northern ports (though by the time i got there the damned fight was over... I wish they had request new orders implemented!)
Well i was finding the odd ship but not many, it was getting a little frustrating. The weather was shocking, freezing, rain, strong winds and high waves made it impossible to see further then your nose.
I managed to find one ship via hydrophones but couldnt get a shot at him, so in the end just tried to tack a course which i thought he was travelling on then sent a few radio messages of the contact and retired to the captains cabin (time accell lol).
A few hours later a cry went up "ship spotted!" And as i went on deck i was suprised to see the day was suddenly brighter though you could see a storm had been from the clouds and darkness (pretty cool really). The ship we had been with was about 5 km and 330 degrees off us. Good navigating hey!
Well i set up to attack hit full speed and tried to close the distance and then went below to plot a patroll around the grid for after i had finished him off.
As i was in the command room i heard a familiar buzzing sound, and at first panicked. STUKAS!! My brain screamed, dive!!! Then i realised im german and ran up the to the deck to see 3 of the Norway anti shipping unit moving in to attack MY cargo ship.
I could hear the whine of their sirens as they dove down on him and dropped their bombs and i watched the carnage open mouthed
About 2 of the three hit and i jumped to the outside view to check the explosion and then watched the ship sink as they flew off into the distance. It was cool to see and gave you the feeling you were not so alone after all
Now im looking forward to actually surviving to the battle of Britain and hopefully seeing some of the fights over the channel!!
Cool cool!
