Having left our new base in Brest (I love that name) nothing better than a French Brest .. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with the Fatherland and Fraulines are strong women .. (most just remind you of somebodys mother) still better than Russian or Scottish women who remind you of somebody's father .. Anyway back to business .. Having been assigned to patrol AM23 we once again encountered rough seas .. as darkness closed the first night we came across 2 ships (a t3 and a Coastal) travelling NNE .. with darkness and high seas we gave chase .. The T3 took 3 torpedos to finish, the Coastal fell to 1 .. The next few days were uneventful, no contacts, rough seas, and alot of surface time to air out the boat .. Radio message advises a Convoy heading SSE to the South of us .. we make contact at 0123... Moonless night, rough seas, limited visability .. My watches eyes are better than mine.. I see them now, we are right in the middle and I expect an escort to bear down shortly but none comes .. an unescorted convoy, the Cat's luck continues.. surfaced, weaving in and out, firing and taking time to reload, a T2, goes down, a second T2 explodes in the darkness, we cripple a T3 and a C2 both dead in the water now .. we move on.. another C2 .. down to 2 torpedos left .. we return to the T3, dead in the water but will not sink we wait .. move our last 2 torpedos into the tubes .. wait some more, shes not gonna sink on her own .. time to finish it .. on to the crippled C2 .. she gives us a fireworks display to head home by.. back to base .. we have Brest waiting for us ...
