Ok i have a mission for you all. Try this out when you can while playing.
It seems to me destroyers dont react to premature torpedoes. You know when they detonate early due to magnetic failures. It should warn the destroyers ect, but when it just happened to me on a single mission they didnt notice. Tell me what your experiences are with it.

I have not seen any ship react to a premature explosion of a torp any where in my career. And believe me, I have had a few of them go off early.

I think the Destroyers have a major bug somewhere in the code .. had one tonight all over my ass, ran over me, knocked out the attack scope, I raised the op scope, fire a torp at his stern as he passed, watched it hit and bounce off (seeing it was only 160km doh) then boom DD goes down by the bow (even got to watch a nice graphic of it settling on the bottom) BUT never showed ship destroyed, and on patrol end no warship showed up ?? oh well better him than me

I may have one. My son has a a war career and on one of his patrols he has a torpedo problem. It is stuck loading with 47 seconds to complete. Won't budge. He has plenty of crew in the forward torpedo compartment. We have exited and tried relaoding the saved career and it still won't load the torpedo. Stuck at 47 seconds remaining.

check to make sure you haven't clicked the silent running, which will stop everything

Thank you, I will check on that. I am at work today putting in a little OT but I have a buddy coming down from Oregon this afternoon and we are going to play SH3 all night and kill a few brain cells while we're at it. I wanted to sort out as many issues as possible before he gets here.

I have the same problem with the ships not seeing a torp exsplode close to it, they just keep on going like nothing happend.
Another thing I have found is that the Elec torps miss almost all the time, they seem to be going slow! I have the tube doors open and I have even used the WO to setup the shot. Still misses. Now I have had them work and reach the target but the shot was almost always under 600 meters. do not know if it is a bug or something wrong with the Elec torps but are any of you seeing this also?

Ya, the electric torps seem to prematurely detonate in rough water when set to magnetic settings, especially for long running shots. They are very slow until you get the upgraded electric torps.

Ah good now I do not feel so bad. I kept thinking that I was missing something with the Elec torps. But now I see that it was just that they where not very good till the latter ,newer types came into the war. I have set the Elec torps aside to just use them for close shots under 600 meters, and they work very well taking out a destroyer by letting it come after you and waiting till it is about 700 meters or less behind then firing at it. When it is set to the Mag and not the impact it will explode every time so far. I have had a 100% kill rate doing this. Scarry but fun , and makes killing a convoy a whole lot easer. ;D

Since 1.2 patch I find teh DDs are harder to hit when chasing you. It was at first as you say, as simple as sending one right down their throats when the were 'locked' onto you. but now they seem a bit better at dodging them. Might be the year too, they do get better as time goes by.
