Ships Disappear

So I have a ship in my sites and I'm closing in on it, and all of
a sudden it drops off the grid, like it fell into a Black Hole in the Bermuda Triangle. I try to go to Free Camera mode and look all over the place, but it's just plain gone. This happens to me in both SHII & SHIII. Hilfe mir!!

Are you playing a single mission? If you are it's because the ships always have a waypoint to go to and once they get there they automatically get deleted. You can do it on Mission Editor on SHIII.
