How in the heck would you guys get into NY Port?!?? Im in early 1943 and due to the shallow depth about 200km out (only about 11 m of water!!) and ALL the enemy aircraft with radar I couldnt get near it!
THe planes were out 24 hours a day (it wasnt stormy though...maybe thats the only way you can get in?) with RADAR!! So day or night didnt matter. I had PBYs and B24s all over me.
Was hoping to sneak in and bag a Passenger liner or two.... but couldnt get witin 150km (couldnt submerge far enough in my IX c/40 to stay away from those airplanes radar).

Humm...I cant log in.... anywho Im thinking latter in the war it must be impossible to get into major ports... as the enemy aircraft are armed with Radar and fly day and night (and they can bloody well see you at night with Radar I found out )...so you cant do the run surface at night to recharge, and submerge during day routine. All the reason to start a new campaign to try new stuff

Difficult to impossible isn't it?Reading 'Iron Coffins' makes you think that those early U-Boat aces like Prien,Schepke and Kretschmer had it relatively easy compared to those late war captains who had to contend with radar equiped aircraft.
