I hate to admit it but this game is getting boring.... but I am hoping maybe its something I am doing and someone can help. I head to where I am supposed to go..The problem is it takes such a long time to get there and worst of all I cant find much of anything on the way even with the time compression at max.. Even then I only find a couple of ships which I either sink or they sail away faster than I can catch them. I only found one convoy and that could have been exciting but and even that was a problem because of my waste of torpedos beforehand. Still I have seen very few convoys.
It seems like everyone else is having fun with really exciting games but I am actually doing other things while waiting for something or another to actually happen I wish there was less waiting and more actual fighting end especially attacking of convoys. I am in 1943 so I would think the fighting would be more exciting but I hate to say it but its not. I have waited six months for this game and I hate to say this. I hope someone can tell me what is wrong.

Do your Patrol and then go NW of Ireland. 4 Shipping lanes converge at that spot and if you patrol there you can usually find a convoy or 2.
I find it best to submerge to parascope depth every 20 or so KM and stop the ship and use the hydrophone to scan around for noises. The majority of the ships are not shown as radio contacts so you have to use another method. Hydrophones have a MUCH larger detection range than visual so use it.
It can be a little booring untill you get better at detecton. You can sail right past sever convoys simply because you didnt see them.

searching for targets is part of the fun in the game, especially when you're near the english or irish coast. but you can't expect ships to go to you, you know. you have to find them where they are likely to pass, or you can view your radio messages and see if there are convoy reports. nabeshin is right. i encountered 3 merchant convoys in that general area. also, try the irish west coast, the channel entrance north of loch ewe and the passage north of scapa flow. i sunk most of my solo merchants in those areas from 1939-1940. just beware of the raf. good hunting!;D

I understand where you are coming from and often put the game down for a week or so. I keep coming back, however, after researching more about the game on forums, etc. I think the key is improving your skills and that will, inturn, improve gameplay.
For instance tonight I learned more about manually tuning the hydrophone. I havent done this once since I've played and others use this regularly to find contacts! I also dont come across many contacts when I rely on the crew to find them, even though I try to place them well in regards to their skills, etc.
Go to Red Devils homepage and check out the tutorial if you havent allready. Its very helpful. Keep the faith, I am! Just be patient and try to get better one patrol after another.
