I have no Brest!! heh heh problem

Hey guys...

Just as I was leaving port (didnt even start my engines yet!) for my 10th patrol I got a message from the BDU that said "The base has changed to Brest"

Does that mean my new base is Brest?? And should I return to Brest or Willamshaven?? I looked on my nav map and I dont even have Brest on my map (I know its in France).... what do I do?

Hmm never got this far yet, but i would say try to dock near brest in the patrol you are on when you finish. Its near the north tip of france. Check on the map that came with the game. Make sure you have enough fuel to get home too though.

If that doesnt work then back home i guess and then try next patrol.

Lets hope someone here who has been through this can tell you what to do!! Though in my game if i can survive a few more patrols france will fall For the first time ever for me

Go back to the normal base. You will start out in Brest in next mission.

I had the same problem called into Lorient and left saying transfer to brest . Brest wasnt on the map as a base. So i sailed out no patrol grid shot a couple of boats and ended missision by esc key. next thing I had new mission at Brest and left from there. Problem is i keep getting a message at start of mission to say base changed to Wilhemshaven but i just ignore that and sailed from and to Brest for missions.
Everything is been credit in terms of reknown for kills so i suppose its OK.

On my 13th mission now

Well that was Bull$hit..... I finished my patrol, but still no Brest on my map. I had sunk the MOST I have ever sunk before (65,000+ tons)!!! So I returned to Williamshaven (due to Brest not being on my map).

Damn game gave me a penalty and only gave me 1542 reknown!!! I got 2,000 for the prior mission and only sunk 40,000 tons.

After I went into Williamshaven, I then clicked on the patrol map...and it said Leave base: Williamshave, Return base Brest...Patrol Grid: NULL. So basically I had to go ALL the way back around england to get to Brest (damn the channel gets harder near 1941...I tried the channel first and got sunk by 3 Destroyers and 2 torp boats near Dover).

Did you try my method of sailing there anyway to see if it exists? Thats what i would have done, its marked on the paper map you get and im sure you would see the lighthouses and buildings as you got closer.

I looked for it (saw it on paper map) but couldnt find it on my in game nav map. THe paper map didnt really give enough detail on where to find Brest on the French coast.

Had I tried to find it I would have been close ...but probably wouldnt have found it.

This happened to me also. Sailed from Brest and when I returned from patrol it was missing from the map. I tried sailing up to the area of the docks anyway and pressing ESC but there was no option to 'dock at Brest'. Docked at Lorient and the next mission was Leave base : Lorient, Return base : Brest, Patrol grid NULL.
While in Lorient I was unable to award medals/promotions the crew had received, and when I got back to Brest they had disappeared.

I started and it said Leaving from Wilhelm and when I finished Brest was there. It was a long way to go but it was there. I think the base wasn't there until the germans occupied France. I think a good history lesson is in order. don't call what BUGS YOU a BUG in the game.
Just remember WE asked for it to be realistic.

Ok..Im going to try and be nice here.

First off... I was TOLD to report to Brest by my BDU. Problem is Brest was not an option to dock at on my Nav map.

Second...I returned to Williamshaven, only to be told to patrol grid NULL and return to BREST. Problem is I left port and finished my NULL patrol and STILL NO BREST on my NAV Map.

Third...left port for the third time and finally had a Brest on my map. and another partrol grid NULL.

So that was 2 patrols wasted (and about 4-5 months) on a NULL patrol area which gave me a penalty both times.

So that doesnt seem very realisitc to me that my BDU would order me to patrol grid NULL. Where is NULL?

Second... you dont know what history I have had, my education level, or my love of Military history.... so before you critizie and attack on a pesonal level, I suggest you try to understand the problem before flaming.
