Ok, likely telling you guys what you already know, so think of this as sharing with you how much of an idiot I am ;D Once you get the gyro angle down within 15 degrees of a perfect straight off the bow or stern shot (or better) and if you are in close (but not too close) and if you have the Recognition Manual open, you can see 'sweet spots' of the ship to target. For those with auto targetting on, just highlight whatever sweet spot you want to hit and everything is adjusted (depth and all). If you are on manual targeting it shows you where to hit. Man, all this time, (approx 26 patrols) and I am only figuring this out now. I did know it once waaaay back when but forgot all about it and have never used it on this career. Doh! hehehe

No kidding!! Man I gotta try this tonight. Im tired of hitting C2 cargo ships (6204 tons) and it taking 2 or 3 of my torps to sink them! Espeically since Im still in a Type IIA U-Boat and only have 5 torps total!

Wow cool, does this happen on manual targeting too? I mean does the manual still show you the points so you can aim at them?
Do you have to press a button to get this extra page of the id manual or is it automatic at close range?

Works like a champ..... you just have to get within about 1200 m or less with near 0 deg Bearing. Finally sunk a C4 with only one torp in the fuel storage... BIG BOOM heh heh ;D I was using auto targeting though.... I do math all day at work, dont really want to do it at home too

Ya, I am a auto targetting guy too. Plus I give myself all the views available. Makes for a low Reality rating, but sure is fun! ;D

Yup, all you have to do is have the recognition manual open on the page of the ship you are targetting. Then get close, but not too close (300 is too close) and then let the gyro angle get within 14 degrees of 0 or less (or 180 for an aft shot, not tested this though). The sweet spots will appear (for auto targtting for sure, haven't tested 100% realism yet) You just click on teh preferred sweet spot and shoot before you lose the +/- 14 degrees of zero gyro. It targets that specific sweet spot and sets depth as well. Is pretty handy. Get some awesome explosions when you hit fuel or ammo storage This is not a mod, I am running completely stock 1.2
