Probs with war ending early

Hi All , I'm new to the forum so not sure if this has been covered here but cant find anything about it. The problem is that after my last mission (mid-1941) the war ended for me. I read somewhere that if i edited the career cfg. file it would fix the problem,which it did.
I managed to start a new mission and reloaded twice (2 periods of play ) but now when i load the game crashes after the black initialising screen.
Please can anyone give me some advice so i dont have to start all over again?

Problem appears to be solved guys , I just restarted mission and everything seems fine now.There was a slight glitch with some torpedoes disappearing from their slots but they were there when i reloaded,just a thought ,i wonder if it could have had anything to do with the batteries in my mouse being low on power ? I wouldnt have thought so but who knows ?
probably just coincidence.Anyway problem solved ( I hope)
