Hi all I have been on SH3 for about two and half months on 100% Realism starting in September 1939 I just can not get passed 1940. To date I have got to mid July 1940 has anyone got any further than that.? Richard PS I have modified ships ID they are switched off making it more real. If anyone is interested how to do this I got it from SubSims heres how to do it - How to Disable Auto Identify Go to the "SilentHunterIII\data\Roster" folder and open the English.cfg file. Then look for the following entries: ;Warships Type0=Patrol Craft Type1=Corvette Type2=Frigate Type3=Destroyer Escort Type4=Destroyer Type5=Minesweeper Type6=Light Cruiser Type7=Heavy Cruiser Type8=Escort Carrier Type9=Fleet Carrier Type10=Battlecruiser Type11=Battleship Type12=Minelayer Type13=Auxiliary Cruiser ;Merchant ships Type100=Replenishment Type101=Tanker Type102=Cargo Type103=Troop Transport Type104=Coastal Vessel Type105=Environmental If you replace the ship names with "Unknown" all contacts will show as "Unknown" in the periscope/UZO notepad when the reticule passes over them.. Better still if you replace the names with a dash "-" (which is the default in the UZO/periscope notepad), nothing changes when you sweep your periscope/UZO over the target. With this mod, the actual names of the relevant ship types will *still* display after you have ticked the box in the Recog Manual

Hola Gents,
You must finnish 'EFFECTIVELY' to move on. In other words, you must have many successes. You will patrol the same are until you ask for a transfer. Select the transfers by trial and error and go with the one that suits your drive.
Again, just remember, you must do well in order to get a transfer.
Ciao, Dan

Hi molsondan I was asking how far has anyone else got in there career on 100% realism.
PS I have completed the game on easy no realism. I have now gone to the other end 100% and thats a whole new situation. On the upside my renown is a lot better now just as well.

Hi guys, I'm back again. LOL Took a few months off from SHIII only because I was burnt out. And, I'd played from the get-go until mid July. LOL My stepdaughters boyfriend got me back into it over Thanksgiving. But, that only created problems...... with the game, which was my fault. I'd left off at the end of my 26th patrol in Aug of 1944 with only 3 torpedos left after a medocre patrol. I'd been transfered from Lorient to St. Nazaire, which was my 26th patrol. Now during this I made the big mistake of enabling SH3 Commander by mistake while on the 26th patrol out to sea, H-T 1.46 was intensional tho.....big mistake. Yep, it happens, big hurry for something new. I started SHIII and my career and played fine for an hour out bound on my 27th patrol. Had to save and later restarted. Boom, CTD while loading career. Then thing really went downhill. It CTD'd right after loading the game. Finally I came to the decision to reinstall. Since the reinstall and all mods loaded first, I've had no problems. But, the nicest thing was, I got to keep my IX9b on the new career I've just started. ;D Lesson for all the new players. Just don't install any mod unless it's a TGA file while out on patrol. Especially SHIII Commander and H-T 1.46. With that and the new Harbor Traffic 1.46, it's now a new game all over again, and a pleasure to play.... again. ;D Be careful and good hunting. ~S!~

Hi. I am only on my 7th patrol and transferred to Kiel. What's these new patches you mention and where do I get them and should I get them??? Another question, can I refuse to go to the specified patrol grid and go into one of Britain's ports and are there ships in those ports?

What's these new patches you mention and where do I get them and should I get them??? There is an official SH3 Patch called 1.4b you can pick it up here read the info carefully. www.silent-hunteriii.com/uk/updates.phpMods are different they change things in the game like sound, texture, look, and the game it's self here's a couple of places you can check. www.subsim.com/subsim_files/patches2005.html#sh3u-boot.realsimulation.com/Another question, can I refuse to go to the specified patrol grid and go into one of Britain's ports and are there ships in those ports? You can refuse but you will not pick up those important Renown points you need. But on saying that if you install SH3 COMMANDER MOD you can control your search grids along with other things like your crew and so on. Reaching patrolgrid: = 500 Patroling patrolgrid for 24 hours = 200 Docking at home port = 100 Hope that helps you out.

I would like to thank you very much. I installed the patches from subsim and now my SH3 will not work. I have to uninstall and reinstall and therefore I will lose all my missions, medals, etc. Robj250

If you did then the best thing to do is join Subsims and post your question their in the SH3 MODS Section they will help you out and don't forget it's your choice to install mods no one is forcing you. PS I got more than ten on my SH3 and it runs OK.

I followed the instructions, when instructions where given on how and where to install the mods. I have SH3 working again and I will try installing the mods again but I would like to know what order to put them in as I think some of them cancel the others if I installed them in the wrong order. I apologize because I stayed up all night and finished installing at noon and none of my saved games worked, so you can understand my being a little upset. I do not blame you folks. I will do them one at a time, but if someone knows the order to install them, I would appreciate knowing. Thanks. I did install every one that was listed in the subsim link. I will try again. I always appreciate the comments that are made. I am a 70 yr old man with MS and COPD and it is difficult for me to think sometimes, so I blame myself.

Big D, that's on the borderline careful. robj250, You don't have to install all of them have a good think of the one's you want to install. The best thing is to join Subsims as they are very active community of players and those who create the mods for the game. Unfortunately here on the red devils this forum has run it's course may come back to life next year with the release of SH4. I myself am a member of Subsims as for here on the red devils I am only going to drop in once a month. Subsims is the place to go when you post point out your age this should help you hopefully get a more detailed step by step answers. ;D
