YO ALL I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THE SITUATION CHANGED FOR ME I HAVE SEEN POSTS ABOUT TORPEDO'S HITTING WARSHIPS AND DON'T EXPLODE AND THEY DON'T REACT TO THIS WELL I CAN SAY THEY DID WITH ME ON PATROL FIRED A TORPEDO AT A DESTROYER HIT IT BUT DUD AND YES IT DID REACT IT STARTED TO PING AND SEARCH THE AREA I DID ESCAPE BUT WITH A LOT OF DAMAGE FROM DEPT CHARGES STRANGE I AM ON 100% REALISM ANY ONE ELSE ENCOUNTER THIS???

Yes, they will react if its a steam, they see the steam trail.
The times they dont react is from premeture explosions. Sometimes the torps explode premeturely and even though there is a big water spout no one in the convoys or escorts seem to notice or bother coming to get you. Maybe they think its a giant whale?

YO DOMINICO IT WAS A TYPE IV INTERESTING WHAT YOU SAY I HAVE FIRED AT DESTROYERS WITH TYPE ONE TAKING UP TO TWO MINUTES PLENTY OF TIME FOR A DESTROYER TO SEE THE TRAIL BUT NO REACTION FROM THE DESTROYER ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION WHAT ABOUT THAT?

If its rough weather they wont see it, a bad crew can also miss it. Once they know you are around they seem to get more vigilant so are more likely to see torps.
