only asking wats the minimum range of a torpedo as i tryd the bismark single player mission, as i started i was right in the middle of 4 british destroyers, or something like that, the closes one was about 270 to 300 away from me so i let it have one, smack bang in the middle,,, only thing is it didnt go bang, infact it didn't do anything, so i gave it 2 more torpedos which also hit it, but they also just bonced of, so can i safely say they were all duds, or i was 2 close to my target?

You were too close. Your torps need 300 metres minimum to give them time to arm. I find that around 450 - 600 metres range is ideal, if not always practicable.

the arming distance of a torpedo is 300M , any closer than that it won't arm or go boom

when u think about it though, if your target is coming towards you, you have to increase the minimum range significantly. say you have a destroyer bearing down on u at 30 Kts, and u wait until he is 300 yards before firing, by the tim your 30kt torpedoe reaches him it will only have travelled 150m!
Anyone got any experience on this?

I have recently tried to sink a T2 tanker that was heading AWAY from me at 6 kts.
I shot my Steamer with speed Fast set. He was about 600m and moving away with his screws facing me.
My torp HIT his screws, bounced BACKWARDS about 100m, then went forward and hit them AGAIN, bounced back and then the tanker turned enough that the third pass the torp bounced along his hull!! NO BOOM ;D Man was I lmao with each bounce....that is until the DD escort turned to come at me ;D
