Hey guys, What game files should I backup so when I reinstall SHIII I wont loose my saves? Im upgrading my PC from a P4 2.4b overclocked to 3.01 Ghz (the CPU is starting fail after 2+ years of strain  ) with 512mb RAM ATI 9800 Pr 256 to a 3.4E (should be able to OC to at least 3.8 - 4.0 ghz) with 1 Gb Ram, and a 6800 Ultra 256mb ;D |

Ok, please bear in mind that I have not tried this, so it is only supposition and an educated guess on my part. If you take this advice it is at your own risk. It seems that the game saves are kept separate from the main install of the game. There will be a folder in the " My Documents" folder on your machine called SH3. It's my belief that this is the one you need to back up. If you follow this path: My Documents\SH3\data\cfg\Careers\(your name) it should show you all your game saves etc. Just back up the whole SH3 folder to be safe. Hope this helps. Thats kinda what I thought Blitz..... and I did that and started with my upgrade last night (crosses fingers).
Well worse case is I will be starting over in my Type IIA....but now that Im not as much of a newbie I should be able to get my Type VIIB after my first patrol vs. my third in my current game.

Yep...it worked. Problem was I didnt backup my 1.2 patch. So my saves wouldnt work right....  and I dont want to go to 1.3 anyone know where I can get the 1.2 patch?  |
