Thanks for your patience in advance guy's, not only am i new to Siii, i'm also new to PC gaming. Been waiting patiently for a good naval game to suit my new pc after earlier attempts to run older games ended in frustration. Siii looked to be just that after purchasing and loading ok, then successfully completing the Navigation tutorial at the Accademy. Felt pretty pleased with myself until i found i did'nt know how to save it. Exited assuming it'd do it automatically, then found no record and couldnt take exam. After checking the official site and seeing the post's from the experienced gammers i see in comparison my woe's, so far, are minimal, but it really does'nt fill me with hope. I've loaded the 1.1 patch as it seemed a good idea, but since seen some posts saying it's crap and they are waiting for 1.2 !! So where do i go from here ? Disk was defragged before loading, my system meets all requirements except system memory 512mb ( 1012 mb reccomended) but i'm hoping that would only affect me if i was to advance to online gaming ( some time away yet i feel ) Sorry if this seems like small beer but i really want to stick at this and spend the time and effort for a full and productive career, which just aint gonna happen if exasperation set's in I appreciate i have barely tipped my toe in this game, but would like to go about things in the right way. I've also run spyware progs , Spybot and Addaware.

Dude, when you start a new career it automaticly saves itself after every patroll. If you save it during the patroll and die you cand go to Saved Career and reload a save game from during the patroll. You don't save it between patrolls because it saves automatically You don't save the game during the naval accademy, there's no point. The exams are stored automaticaly but don't count for anything...

Navy blue you confused me a bit Zak is right though the game saves itself. You dont need to save the Acadamy missions as they are saved forever if you pass them. Look at the list of acadamy missions and it should show you the result you got in them if you finished them. Make sure when you do them you take the exam selection. As for missions again the game saves for you when you dock at port. But if you quit the game in the middle of the sea you need to save it then. So press escape and then select save and write in a name you will remember is your newest save. Like Tuesday night, or just sank a battleship ect. Hope this helps!

The rub here is for teh tutorials to 'save' as such is- You have to of chosen "Exam" when you started the tutorial and you have to complete it. Check your messages frequently (by pressing M key). Make sure to surface when all is done before quiting. As far as the negatives posts, they are always there. Some like the game, some don't. Some have troubles running the game, some don't. I suggest installing the patch. I have had no problems except for the Nvidia bug, which Nvidia is working on so they say. Make the experience your own. If the game works on your pc and you enjoy it, why fret over other people's woes. Although I personally do my best to help out people that are having tech probs (or any probs) but it is not going to dampen my joy of the game. Sounds to me that you are having a 'how to' problem, not a 'bug' problem.

Thanks guy's, seems like what i did'nt do was click on "Exam" before starting the Nav tutorial ( cheer's Venge ) which was probably the right thing as i now know what's required. Appart from that looks like all i need to do is pull on me steamin boots , cast off and get stuck right into this game instead of lookin for S**t that ain't happened yet. Thanks again. Oh yeah, Dominico. Superb site, walk throughs are pure class mate.

After I got my first patrol in I wanted some more deck gun training So I was running the deck gun Part. training Naval Academy. I wanted to use the Watch Officer to direct the firing which I got it to work When I passed the exam first time I used the deck gun my self Manually. and sunk the targets Next I want to use the Watch office to use crew to operate flak gun station. again when I took the exam I manually fired the gun myself. Need to know how to use watch officer and crew to fire all the guns Lane

Yes you need to use space bar because they are neutrals, later you only need to tell them in a real war. About the exam, make sure you selected exam before you went into the mission at the top of the page, then you can pass it. Otherwise its just the practice you have selected.
