Thought I'd just continue our discussion from the Manual TDC thead on a new RUBoat thread...
Thanks Beery for your input and replies.
I don't know why the torpedoes wouldn't load. I had the place full, with one of the Helmsman, 5 Warrant Officers and all the other places filled. And had time compression off. They just wouldn't load. I thought maybe they didn't load in time compression, so when I found that C3, I just went to real-time and tacked with that thing 200 meters of its stern for 6 hours at real-time and an hour at 8x compression ... still no loaded torpedoes. Auto-loading was checked, but just to be sure after 4 hours of real-time tacking, I disabled it and hit the key to order reloading. The message that the torps were in the queue to be reloaded stayed there for the entire 5-day voyage. So I just assumed that they had severe post-traumatic stress disorder and/or were drunk as skunks on Jagrmeister and refused to load the fish.
It's no sweat, I just used my own immersion factor by assuming the torpedo tubes were damaged and unusable, and home I went.
It was my first patrol, so I had very limited experience on board.
Anyway, it was a blast. I didn't sink a thing, and still had a great time just trying to make it home. I spent all my time in the Academy working on manual firing solutions, and not enough on important stuff like checking depth under keel before crash-diving....

This mod sounds amazing, but I hesitate to modify a game that is so new. By the time I found SHII, it was well established, so I felt safe in modding the bJesus out of it right away. With SHIII, however, it's so new (and has some problems), I'm sure several more official patches will be released. I'd like to avoid repeated reinstallations for awhile. Also, I have yet to master manual TDC. I have read a great deal on the subject and want to practice it, but I don't want to quit my current campaign at 76% realism, which I'm enjoining immensely. There seems to be as many different opinions on manual TDC as there are captains! I think SHIII screams for a book - an actual book - with detailed instructions and tactics. The manual that comes with the game is far from complete, or even adequate. With the RealUboat mod installed, if you lose the ability to lock on a target - how do you target ships? - just eyeball it, like Enigma? I got pretty good at that, but it didn't seem very realistic. Thanks.

I told you, you forgot that in rigged mode for silent running you can't reload torpedoes or perform repairs. You stressed your crew for nothing Happened to me many times at the beginning it's a pretty bad mistake but don't worry you ll get the hang of it At this point i would like the users that are using the Real Uboat tell us what they would like to see for increased realism in our future releases. We need and appreciate both feedback and critics
