Three patrols now, out of Kiel. Never seen the band yet. Although twice I have left in the middle of the night, and returned once at night, but still......

i think they are at the wrong pier. somewhere off to your left. or is that at one of the french ports....cant remember. anyway, at one of the ports, the band is at the wrong pier. you can hear them playing away, and see them with the free camera.

Had the same problem when I was at kiel Band showed up at wrong Pier ;D Should move to St Nazaire . Band is there when you leave and return and Parking area is easy to find. Down at right end of all the sub bunkers. very easy and fast to sail out of Port. Wish i could find some lone Merchants. Good weather leaving and Bad weather when I get North. U-46 Lane

yea I like St. Nazaire... just had the same problem, lovely weather leaving port, terrible when I found a convoy. just did my first patrol using the real uboat 1.22 mod. loved it! ... sank a good few ships too ;D and the music the band plays changes to that nicer music that they play on Das Boot when they're leaving port.

Cat, Do you have the World mod 2.01? And you like the newest Real Boat 1.22 mod? I wonder When new Patch 1.3 comes out if we have to make a new install and lose all our mods? Lane

I dont have the world mod. yea i like the real uboat mod, the fatigue system is very different, but alot better I think, because you don't constantly have to be tucking your crew into their beds. wait a second I just gotta find something, brb...

ok I've found it. if you go to beery's mod site, here you can download a little program called JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler. basically, we will not be able to patch over a modded game. so what this program does is create a new folder in the SH3 folder called MODS, where you then put new folders with any mods you want to use. Then when you run the program again, you can choose which mods you want to use, and enable them. This will copy over the necessary files to the correct folder, making backups. This means that you can disable the mod very easily at any time using the same program. So if you used this on a clean install, and put all your mods in like this, when the patch 1.3 eventually comes out, you just disable the mods using this program, apply the patch, then enable the mods again. sorry, its alot simpler to use than i've probably explained... i'm pretty tired.. heh anyway, if you do want to install patch 1.3 when it comes out, and you have to so a clean install, I recommend this program. and if that happens, I'd be happy to talk you through using it.

I only use three "mods." Beery's real uboat 1.22, which changes the game quite a bit, and I like it alot. however I removed the murky water section, I found it a little too murky then I use Wazoo's Nomograph mod, which is really simple and bloody brilliant, take a look herefinally I use a modded commands cfg file that I did myself to change a few key commands to suit some voice recognition purposes. like I say, if you have a clean install and use that Mod Enabler program, it'd be an absolute breeze to disable a mod, revert to clean and install a patch, then enable the mod again. it doesn't matter what version of the game you have at all.

Thank's Cat, That sounds like a good mod program. to install and remove mod's thank's for links. So how would that work my sh3 is patched to 1.2 and I have 3 or 4 mods installed? Emblem , new moon, Das boot sound files and a Hig -res uniform and metals mod? I think that's it and on a career patrol 13 in base. Would I just need a clean install to work with that new mod program. Thank's for info Lane

OK Lane, you shouldn't actually need a new, clean install.
all these mods do is alter files in the data folder in the SH3 folder, so this is what I'd do: First rename the "data" folder (C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data) to something else to back it up (databackup, or something). Then open up the DVD that the game comes on, the installer program. If you click "install" there should then be an option to repair the current installation. This will just copy over the necessary files again, so you wont lose any saved games.
then you can install patch 1.2 again, install the Mod Enabler, and then install any mods you want using the instructions given with the Mod Enabler (or I could tell you how to do it).
That should be it, and if anything went wrong, you always have a backup of your old data folder, complete with all its mods.

Ok dagamecat, "Thank you" That sound's easy enough I did copy and make a backup folder of my data foder in sh3. But I think I will delete it and go the way you outlined. I would like to install the Jones mod installer. I have serveral mod's installed and like you said they are in data folder. would you have to start over with Naval Academy I think you said i would keep my career and saves? Would that mod installer install the new real boat and world mod and would they work together? I had serveral other mods installed, emblems, new moon " small " new sky "clouds" sound's das boot Hi res uniform and metals and new look to gages. Had a bunch of them I may wait till I get back from Patrol 14 I have started patrol 14 Would like to find some single merchants and sink something on my patrol . Last patrol I came back a goose egg ;D Thank's for advice on how to install the mod installer Be back later Lane

I dont know how well the real uboat mod and world mod will work together. my advice is to wait till you get back to port, then do all that I said to install just the real uboat mod. see how you like it, this mod also contains a new moon graphic, new uniforms, some new sounds including some sounds from Das Boot (eg. crash dive), new gauges, new map tools (protractor). its great. if you don't like it, its easy enough to get rid of it! and yes, you won't lose any of your saved games, because these are stored in My Documents.

Question for dagamecat? Does the jones mod installer work with exe programs? Like UBoat? Or do you run the exe to another folder and arrange the files in folders that the mod program will work with? On that new Uboat mod I read lot's post that guys don't like the crew magnement system? Like a section shutting down complet and no replacements? Can you remove this part of mod? I see it has a bunch of good stuff but less contacts? I need to see some contacts Very sparse ship contacts on last two patrols/ Thanks's for any feedback Lane
