In the game the only time I have received a radio message is when I'm surfaced. If your at Periscope depth it could be possible to still pickup radio messages but not sure.
As for aircraft in the game I don't mess with them unless I have no choice. 99% of the time I'm crash diving which is what most u-boat commanders did as well.

Flip your compass to the rudder degrees setting. Much easier to do fine adjustments to your coarse. To go back to rudder midships press the " key

Hello Steve,

I have not tried to go past the grids. My guess is that you can go but will find nothing. Because when the mission is scripted all assets are in the playable grid area. But give it a try and let us know if you find anything or not.

I noticed this in SHII also. When I'm chasing a ship, it outdistances me and then just disappears. Does that mean it just outran me? Should I still "Silently Hunt" for it, or is it a lost cause?

I have done a dozen or so patrols and I wanted to switch up my officer qualifications, so I got a new LT. He did one patrol fine, but when I went out for the next, he missed the boat! The barracks counts him, but he is not there. Any ideas?

I'm stuck in Torpedoschule, nearly all my torps go aft, including salvos of 4. I can hit the stationary coaster and the big ship. I've a better chance of sinking the stationary coaster if I hit manual override and adjust the bearing. The results are pretty wild when I try manual on moving targets.
I usually try from just over 500 metres and get a position where the triangle is green and I'm about 90 degrees to the path of the ship. Any ideas?

When I had this problem it was because the ship I was locked onto was not the ship I was heading towards on the map. The first clue I spotted was that the ship's speed was less than my sub's. I'm not suggesting that anyone else has the problem for that reason. Also subs go faster on the surface. I could be wrong, I'm still in Torpedoschule.
